Job Description:

Cheyenne Medical Lodge, a premier skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Mesquite, Texas, is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department. This role is best suited for an experienced RN with skilled nursing leadership experience who is ready to oversee clinical operations, mentor staff, and ensure excellence across the entire nursing department

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all nursing department operations to ensure safe, high-quality care for residents

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff across all shifts, fostering teamwork and accountability

  • Oversee resident care planning, clinical outcomes, and quality assurance programs

  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation regulations

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and recruitment to maintain adequate coverage

  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care

  • Respond effectively to emergencies and complex clinical situations

  • Monitor and utilize EHR systems to support accurate documentation and data-driven improvements

  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and quality assurance systems

Qualifications

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (required)

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations

  • Proven ability to manage and motivate large nursing teams

  • Stable work history that reflects reliability and commitment

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN required)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of skilled nursing leadership experience (DON, ADON, or Nurse Supervisor strongly preferred)

  • Prior experience in long-term care or post-acute rehabilitation settings highly desirable
